Hello all, I'm new to this forum and this upcoming season will be my 4th season sailing, so I'm still very wet behind the ears, so please forgive me if I sound too ignorant, but I really am.

1. Where can I find the block for my outhaul on my boom for my H-31 84-87?
The owner of my marina told me it had to be special ordered, which he said he did 2 years ago.:doh:

Also, my primary fuel filter has not been cleaned or looked at or replaced at least since I purchased the boat 4 years ago and God knows when the last time the previous owner did anything with it.
It's not a see through type filter.

2. Can anyone tell me if it could be easily cleaned, or should I just replace it with a see through type which I don't currently have?

FYI, I know how to bleed the system after I do anything with either filter.
Thank you,
Bernard

Well, depending on how much you have used your engine, it is certainly due for some new primary and secondary filters. Tell us what type/brand/model filter you have and we'll be more help. Many primary fuel filters were added to the Yanmars at commissioning and so there may be a number of different models/types out there.

Warren, thank you so much for the response. Sorry for the long wait to respond back, but my daughter dropped my laptop and I had to send it to get repaired.
At the moment I don't know the filter brand/model my primary filter is. I do replace the secondary every year. Do you think it needs a new filter? Are there filter that you may change the elements inside or something like that?
I'll get the brandmodel next time I go to the marina. Thanks again Warren. Happy sailing

I think you may be long overdue for fuel filter changes. It is probably more important to replace the primary fuel filter than the secondary (I replace the secondary in my Yanmar 2GM20F about every 3 years). Hunters in the 1980's typically came with Racor or Fram primary fuel filter. Racor's require a screw off/screw on cartridge, while the Fram has a cartridge holder with a replacement element inside it. Bleeding the low pressure side of fuel system (which should be all you need), typically invovles opening a bleed screw on top of the secondary filter and operating the lift pump lever until you get clean fuel without air bubbles coming out on top of the secondary filter. But it would best to make sure you know the procedure for your particular engine by looking up Mack Boring or any of the Yanmar (assuming your engine is Yanmar....) diesel maintenance sites online. Here is but one example: http://www.yanmarhelp.com/s_bleed.htm

I think you're right about the filter change. I also have a Yanmar 2GM20F. now that you mentioned the brand of filter, I think I may have a Racor Primary.
Thanks for the site. I wonder how much $ one of those see through primaries that Mack Boring sells?
