Outboard's sacrifical anode in fresh water?

I'm still in the shopping mood and thought I'd order one of those ThrustMasters for my Honda 9.9 electric start. I bought the 95H23.5 on the coast last year and hauled it out here to my freshwater lake. The anode would be in the way of the ThrustMaster's position on the outboard. Excuse my ignorance of salt water and more, but do I need to keep and relocate the anode or is it a salt-water only requirement?

just added a powerthruster to my honda 15...

I would not recommend removing the anode... it is easy to just drill out a set of holes and through-bolt the anode in its original position. It is easy... and what a difference the powerthruster makes! You'll love it!

Just to be clear...

Thanks for the response! Are you saying to remove the anode, install the PowerThruster, then drill the old anode holes up through the PowerThruster? That then puts the anode on top of the PowerThruster instead of touching the outboard metal directly? I don't the science of the corrosion and the anode to know that this is still OK to protect the outboard. Do you know?

You want an anode

My 240 with 9.9hp honda has been in fresh water all its life and there is considerable corrision on the anode. So you do want to keep it on. Is it possible with the power thruster installation to just put it on the opposite side fo the fin it's currently mounted on. I think that is what Brian is referring to.
