My outboard on my Albin Vega seems to be clogged with in the water
pump lines so no water is ejected when running. Has anyone gone
into the motor/pump housing to remove the blockage. I'm assuming it
is likely spome salt blockage. Any advice? It's a yamaha 9.9 hp.

Hot or very warm water is best for removing salt--try an earmuff backwasher to flush system--there is also a thermostat involved--you will need new gaskets if you remove same to clean--jorgen

Here is another quick thing to try. I had a Yamaha 6 hp outboard.
The outlet port for the cooling water was pretty tiny. It clogged up
on a regular basis. I kept a length of solid copper wire that I
jammed up the port to clear it. I'm sure this is not a Yamaha
recommended procedure, but it worked for me for 13 years.

Hi Scott,
The small wire trick does the job frequently for me. I run my 22'
skiff in shallow water routinely and the small outlet tube on the
Yamaha 85 gets clogged if the engine is kicking up mud near the
bottom. If you are still getting a drizzle you may need a new
impeller.
Cheers,

Thanks to everyone with the help on the plugged water
pump on my Yamaha. Going out tonight to make my
attempts to clear it out.

yes--on many outboards the water pump is a rubber impeller mounted on the vertical driveshaft--remove the lower end of the shaft and there you will find the rubber. This rubber does not like to run dry--one minute dry and it is gone--water cooled and lubricated jorgen

I was able to unclog my outboard using the wire method
first. Just to be sure I pulled some of the hoses and
blew wind and water through them. The impeller seems
to be fine. Much relieved to see that jet of water.
Thanks to all for your help.
