While I await receipt of the owner's manual (just ordered), I'm seeking some guidance in connection with my Yamaha 9.9 Fourstroke. When I attempted to start (electric start) the engine this past weekend, I got absolutely no response - just silence. Two weeks ago, the engine started (first attempt) and ran like a champ. Battery was charged, and the engine was in neutral. I'm hoping the manual will help me isolate and correct any potential problems. In the meantime, I'd appreciate receiving thoughts from anyone experienced with fourstrokes. Thanks.

Linkage

I have exactly the same engine on my 222, the speed of the started is slowing down, but still working. This may be a really obvious check, but I have found that sometimes the gear-shift linkage becomes out of adjustment - a slight "wiggle" of the gear shift or re-adjustment has solved the problem for me, as when out of adjustment the safety lock engages. Good Luck Jim

Four Cycle - Upper Lube

I think it may be a good idea to add 4 ozs. of 2 cycle oil to each 10 gals of gasoline. This added oil will help keep the top end (cam & valve stems)well lubed.
