Outboard Tiller

I would like to connect the tiller of my ODay 23 to the outboard so that the two work in unison. Has anybody on this site done this and does anybody have suggestions as to the best way to do this.

I have seen it done with a simple piece of pvc pipe held in place by two pintles. It's not rocket surgery, and it works.
