The engine I have
I have a 1982 Hunter 22 and I use a Merc 7.5 in Casco Bay Maine. This motor has to push through tough tides and winds at times so I'm glad to have a little extra if needed. I have never noticed the engine to weight the boat down (the engine in the up position stays out of the water). In my opinion, it sounds like your going to be dealing with tides so a I would stay away from the smaller range (plus a lager engine will last longer because you won't have the RPM's as high to achive the same results). If you want a 2 or a 4 stroke, well, thats up to you. Just remember, if you plan on doing any work to your engine, 2 cycles tend to be eaiser to work on.
