In the outboard thread, there is mentioned "low pitch four blade prop" being best for this application. My prop needs to be replaced on a 8 HP Honda and am wondering what are the "numbers" you are looking for when buying a new prop?

Depends on the application

It depends on what the 8hp honda is mounted on. Here is a Honda site, look under accessories then propellers then your size engine. http://www.honda-marine.com/accessories.aspx# I have a 5hp Honda on my inflatable dinghy and would prefer a smaller diameter 3 blade prop with higher pitch for more speed, I enjoy zipping around in a little dinghy and since it is light it does not require a large diameter and extra blade surface to get it moving. Now on the big heavy Macgregor I have a 4 X 11.4 X 9.75 Solas prop on a Honda 50hp (number of blades X diameter X pitch). The 4 big dog ear blades provide more water surface contact and more control at low speeds and in reverse while maneuvering around the marina. While this may be beneficial at slower speeds the extra blade surface also produces more drag which affects your top speed at WOT. I am willing to sacrifice a couple MPH in exchange for the other bennefits 4 blades have to offer including better mid-range performance since I am rarely at WOT. If you are using 8hp on a big boat I am not sure what is in it for you since 8hp is never going to push a big boat very fast. I suppose it would help with low speed maneuvering control but there is not the same selection of props for small portable engines, you may only have a couple to choose from. Honda does utilize Solas props though so you have that bennefit.

Power Thrust

My application is the main motor (an old Honda 8 hp four stroke) on a 26S (ie, displacement hull speed). On the link (thanks by the way), I saw a four blade "power thrust" for the BF8D BF9.9D B = 4 D = 10 P = 7 R = R so I guess this is a 10 inch diameter with a pitch of 7. Dont know what the R means??? And who could argue with getting a propeller with the name "Power Thrust"? (they have 4 blade props for the same motor at D=9.25 and pitch up to 11)
