I have not been out to the boat in months. The outboard won't start. Any help appreciated. Di d the fuel gum up the system? Any suggestions? thanks!

yes it likely did

pull off the carb and soak it in carb cleaner overnight, then try it again with fresh fuel and new plugs. If that fails, check for spark, if that is good add a tsp of fuel to the cylinder through the spark plug hole to unclog any reed valves, check or replace fuel filter. If no spark, start tracing back to the magneto, then points, but that is unlikely.

When I flush out the motor at the end of a sail, I unhook the gas line and let the engine run at idle, until the gas is all used. The engine will speed up when it is almost out. Cut it off then, as your also leaning it out. Not great on a two stroke. Someone also makes a fogger to spray in the engine for storing the engine for long periods. Also, if you go out more often....:)
