We used a 15 hp Yamaha to push Williwa from Petersburg, Alaska to Port Townsend, WA with no problems. No problems AFTER we reinforced the transom with half inch plywood on the inside and half inch aluminum bars on the outside. The PO had just bolted the engine mount to the transom with a plywood backing plate on the inside. For some reason he got away with it. When we tried to use it that way, the transom oil canned alarmingly with stress cracks showing all around the motor mount. Our solution, recommended by one of the local fisherman was to "Get Joe". Joe fabricated two aluminum bars to go on the outside, through bolted to the plywood backing plate on the inside of the transom It may not be the best solution but it worked splendidly.
