outboard motor wedge angle

I am installing a new outboard motor bracket on my 1979 O’Day 25. Please let me know the angle of the original wedge installed on the Production boats. I do know that the transom reverse sheer angle is roughly 7-8 degrees and believe my production wedge, before I inadvertently discarded it, was about 20 degrees to my eye. I believe the designer did this to lower the attaching mount board. If you are rusty in trig, let me have the sides of the triangle and I’ll figure it out. Please expedite since I am building a new larger footprint wedge. Thanks much.

My trig needs help

I'm making a wedge for my 25. The footprint of my garelick bracket is about 9 inches from top to bottom. I held a level against the transom and measured the distance from the level to the transom at nine inches. I got only 1.5 inches. So, the sides of the triangle are 9x1.5x9.125. At least I remembered my pythagoreum theorum. The angle is so slight that I don't think the 25, at least mine, came with a wedge. I obtained a nice block of 3" thick mahogany to make it with. Good luck. I'll post a picture when I'm done.

Steve: thanks for the response. Your transom angle comes to about 9.5 degrees and is close to the the 7,5 degrees I estimated with the boat in the water. If your boat was not level you will get a difference, but we can't measure /estimate closedr to a few degrees. If you makle your wedge to have a one in three rise that will be about 19.5 degrees which is what I made my wedge to.charlie
