Got the boat in the water yesterday. Haven't had the sails up yet. I have some mast work that needs to be done. I ran my new (old) Honda 75. I was wondering if they make a throttle lock. For an outboard engine.

Manuals are available at Honda for the old motors.

Do you mean to keep it at speed without physically holding the throttle open? If so and it is like my Honda 5hp there might be a little plastic thumb screw just down from the actual throttle handle. It raises the tension inside the handle so you can let go without it springing back. Not sure if that's what you mean. Or if yours will be the same.

Every outboard motor I know of has a friction lock built into the throttle. They are adjustable to maintain friction as the parts wear. Look up the manual online and investigate it.

Throttle on Honda

KB: On my old Honda 9.9, the throttle is controlled by twisting the steering handle. And at the outer end of the handle there is a cap that screws in and out that controls the length of the throttle control wire. Since its about as old as yours I have to apply quite a bit of pressure screwing the cap to increase the min. speed. Perhaps there is another adjustment back at the carburetor too. RK
