Hello to all:

I need your advice. Where and how do you store your dinghy's outboard? We have recently purchased a 6HP 4-stroke weighing 55 lbs. I found a plastic bracket that mounts on the railing but there is no 90 degree T-joint on our railing to accommodate the bracket. Any suggestion? Any other storage ideas?

Thanks in Advance,

Eli

Make your own.

You can make a T joint by inserting a 1" diameter piece of tubing on the lower opening. This tube will rest on the horizontal lower rail and you can attach it with a "C" clamp. Or you may do what we did; we got a piece of treated lumber 2X6 and held it to the upper and lower rails with "C" clamps. It is one piece construction and it is strong; never liked the plastic mounts. As far as aesthetics I don't notice it any more. It was originally put on for a trip to the Bahamas with the intention of taking it off afterwards but it is still there and being used. With the curvature of our stern rail seats it would have been difficult to place any other mount over the swim platform where I wanted. I cut out a semicircle to the middle of the board to clear one of the seats. I guess I could paint it but like I said I don't notice it anymore.
