I have a 1964 5 1/2 HP Jhonson outboat that has treated me well for 3 years. Last year I had the hoses replaced and tuned up.A few weeks ago I developed an air leak in the fuel system causing erratic starting and stalling...I replaced the connection from the fuel tank to the motor with a new clip and seams to have helped.the problem I am still having is although it does not stall any longer I do not have the power I had. While under power I will give it 1/4 throttle and it sounds like its smothering...then it perks up all by itself to a higher rev. like its gaining and loosing power.Any thoughts?...water in the gas??.gas oil mixture bad??..fuel pump about to go?? I cleaned the fuel filter yesterday with no help.....or is it just about time for a new engine 1964? Its tough finding someone to work on these old engines.Any help would be appriciated.thanks Rob
