I have refurbished a couple of old (mid 80’s) OMC outboards. I was able to get the parts from a local Johnson dealer .. the Bombardier folks who took over have maintained a pretty decent supply of parts..
Marine Engine has gone above and beyond to do some research for me when there were multiple part numbers. However, I usually just use amazon and ebay
Are you looking for new or used? I know this part is a bit pricey. Honestly, You'd be better served with a solar panel if it's just the charging part coil that went out
A magneto coil is going to be needed for ignition . I'm pretty sure it wont run without it .
Most of the OMC stator assemblies I've looked at have the charging and magneto coil in one unit. I agree that it wont run with a bad magneto or trigger coil
I enjoy getting old Evinrudes/Johnson outboards running and have restored a couple of them. Marineengine.com has been one of my go to online stores for parts. I always copy a paste the part number into Ebay or Google Search just to see if I can find the part somewhere else for less money. Marine Engine has great exploded diagrams with the part numbers. Ebay often has lower prices, some of these parts are, of coarse used. But sometimes you get lucky a find someone selling what you need as NOS.
This 30HP is most likely going to have electronic ignition. There's some simple resistance tests that can be done to check the coil. CDI Electronics has specs published along with the factory service manual. I have both if needed
