Do the mounts typically have to me attached by a t-section? for weight distribution?
Actually, the picture does zero to show the construction of the mount. It's made from two pieces of 3/4" Starboard and bull nose routered inside with a 1" cutter to a depth of 1/2" in. on each plate to accept the 1" dia. tubing. And yes, they do intersect as a "T" inside the Starboard.Do the mounts typically have to me attached by a t-section? for weight distribution?

No, nothing that fancy. The vertical piece just comes up close to the existing horizontal rail.Just want to confirm that's what you did. Just don't think you welded it to the railing.
Looks like Worst Marine has infringed on my original design and is now peddling them for $45.00. Call out the lawyers.I guess I'm looking for product recommendations really.
