I have a 84 Catalina 27. My old engine mount is worn out ( it is the mount on the back of the transum type. I just purchased a new 4 stroke Tahatsu 8 hp. I was told by Garelick mfg. that I HAD to get a 4 stroke engine mount (their model 71090). The problem is that when the mount is on the transum the handle is right against the transam also. I was then told by garelick to build up a 3" shim betreen the mount and the transum. If I could us their 2 stroke mount (model 71033 or 71056) then the handle is positioned away from the transum and could be bolted right to the transum serface. There must be a better way.
