Does any one know where to get replacement parts for a Garlack <sp?> type motor mount?

Garlack doesn't sell replacement parts and I haven't been able to find anything on the net except for mounting pads. I need the bolts, springs and spacers.

I have two of the units but one has no springs, spacers or bolts. It's a straight "power by Armstrong" unit. The one I want to fix, has carbon steel bolts that are rusted in place and ceased to the aluminum spacers. The springs have little to no life left in them.

When my bolts broke I replaced them with regular stainless steel bolts. The nylon washers should be available at most hardware stores. As far as the springs go if its the one with a single spring, it was a weenie to begin with. There are modifications using a small block with a locking cam that can be attached to the stern rail and the handle of the motor. A 3:1 purchase should be enough to handle any motor.
BTW when you assemble the hinge bolts make sure that there is no gap between the spacers and the tubes, otherwise the bolts flex and fatigue.
PS you can buy a used garlick pretty cheap. I bought a heavy duty double spring one two months ago on Craigslist for $60.

Some years back, someone did an in depth search to find the springs to rebuild one. If I remember, he decided it made more sense to just buy a new one.

Thanks guys.

I'm going to go with Frank's suggestion and just make the mount usable with a block and tackle. It's what I'm doing now but wouldn't have that drated reversed locking arm to worry about.

I pulled my back something awful this year (before the block and tackle) trying to raise the motor and keep that arm from locking at the same time.

Gaerlick Industries is a St. Paul Park, MN company (Eez Inn). You have to buy their products through a dealership that handles their stuff. They do have some replacement parts. I can ask Rick Gaerlick, who is a friend of mine. But, really. A new motor mount isn't that expensive is it?

It's not the expense, it's that I have two of these Garlick knock-offs and was hoping to make them into one that works.

The manufacturer of mine used carbon steel bolts and one unit was never designed to have springs. I figured for the price of 6 SS bolts and 2 springs, I could have a working unit with some spare parts.

Thanks for the offer of speaking to Rick but, with the tension that should be on these springs to lift a motor, I can understand why he wouldn't sell them. In the world nowadays, his legal bills would be staggering.

When dumpster-diving one time, I found a swing-up outboard bracket. The mounting board was pretty rotted, but I guess the owner did not think of the $$$ in all the stainless-steel nuts, bolts and washers. I now have them. I used the aluminum pieces to reinforce a picnic table I made. Waste not, want not.

Here is a mod that the PO made to the mount. The rod is connected to the release lever and extends up about 2'. It is covered with a soft rubber hose for gripping. To raise the motor I only had to pull forward and lift. It worked pretty well for getting it most of the way up without having to bend over. As the motor approached the top I would grab the motor handle and finish the lift.
I have a feeling that something could also be done with the right gas shocks.
