The combi is not a difficult bit of engineering once you see it in bits, it
is probably the most simple gearbox mechanism ever invented. Many people
hae been terrified until trying and then found out that there is really
nothing to be worried about. The most difficult part is taking the combi of
the engine and releasing the clamping rings. If you follow the instructions
suppled with the combi kit then you cant really go wrong. Dont be afraid, I
was but then discovered the method.. Combi Kit is available from the VAGB
at £38 with complette instructions and diagrams. The kit consists of all
parts to renovate the combi and sterngland.
