I had the buckles on the straps that hold my 15 hp 4 stroke break while lifting my outboard motor onto my tender yesterday resulting in it getting drowned. Got it going now. I would like some ideas on what people use as an appropriate bridle around there outboard please.

most i see are for smaller motors (i.e. our modern "better" 4strokes are fat pigs of a motor) or if a large outboard like this is used its usually a custom made bridle that has been spliced together using high quality line.

I use the bridle purchased at West Marine for our Honda 9.9 but I have it backed up with a 1/4 SS cable. It's just a 28" length of cable with loops crimped on each end, one for the engine and the other I can use the cable to lock the engine to the dinghy or the boat and as a safety when lifting.

I picked up a new harness from Whitworths in Australia that has stainless steel catches and is rated up to 25hp motors, I also got a new bracket for the pulley that pulls straight and also fitted a jammer so I don't have to hold it while I put in on the cradle. Working out great
