yamaha 9.9 ,2002, same problem
mine was not peeing at all.I replaced the thermostat(old plugged with salt sand and algae),flushed out the head with hydrogen peroxide,poured it into thermostat opening, and could see debris coming out of bottom behind prop.. flushed with my homemade ,in the peehole flusher using garden hose on low without thermostat,installed new thermostat,runs like new, on 2002 model there is a fuel restrictor that limits the fuel to the engin if the water is running to hot ,reducing performance at high speed. i cleaned the old thermostat by letting it sit in lime-away for ten minutes and it looks like new,and opens on house hot water. i put an extra hose in beside the pee hole with a "T" coming out of the block to flush without using the earmuffs,wich is hard to do on a sailboat in the water.
