Outboard Motor Choice

I have a 1971 9.9 hp Evinrude motor that is giving me a fit. Boat is a 1977 Cat. 22 swing keel. Looking for motor suggestions. like the power of the larger engine. May go into the ocean via a canal (Point Pleasant)and Barnaget inlet. Engine power is impt. and i am not racing at this point. Any brand/Hp suggestions ? Thanks!Hal

Nissan hp long shaft

I purchased a Nissan 6hp with a long shaft. and it workes perfectly. I also bought the optional alternator and its enough to keep my battery charged up. Shop around. I bought mine thru Porta Bote. Thanks to all who replied. Ended up w/ an 8hp Tohatsu from online outboards.comThe weight thing does concern me, but my better half liked the additional power.
