I own a Capri 22 and have a 6 HP Tohatsu outboard. I bought it 2 years ago and probably run it for about 10-15 hours a season just to motor away from the dock to get the sails up and then back to the dock when I am done.

I am getting ready for the season and am debating whether I really need to do any maintenance (oil change) on it.

What are your thoughts?

I have the 5hp and change the oil at least once a year and the lower unit at the same time. I bought mine used and have no idea how many hours it had. Oil is cheap and the labor is free. Cheap insurance. You might consider the impeller in the future.
