Its hard to believe that they relocated the motor, to the Port Side, because of the Stern Light, because after all 99% of sailing on these boats is done during the day! I think it has more to do with weight distribution. The original location put the motor= 5hp Honda 60lbs. plus one 12v battery=45lbs, and miscellaneous stuff in the storage locker=10lbs, total= 115lbs on the Starboard Side. Of course this situation could get worst with a larger motor! While the Port Side only had the Swim Ladder and 2-6 gals of gas, approximate 12-40lbs. By moving the motor to the Port Side (60lbs) the weight is more evenly distributed. Assuming 2 gals of fuel average, 12lbs plus 60lbs motor = total 72lbs, Starboard now has Battery 45lbs plus miscellaneous 10lbs, total 55lbs. Its interesting because I considered doing this on our 2006 Capri 22, before I saw that Cataline must have been thinking the same thing.
