Outboard for Catalina 27

Does anyone know what kind of new outboard will fit into the well of a older Catalina well? I have a very old Johnson 9.9 that came with the boat but it needs to be replaced and it barely fits anyway. The problem is when the motor is tilted up with the prop out of the water. The very big power heads on the new motors is the problem it seems. I'm looking for a two stroke since the four strokes are even bigger. Thanks.

Here is what I have...

I have a 1973 Catalina 27 with an outboard well. Had to repower last year -- not by choice. I used a Yamaha High Thrust 9.9 4 stroke. Fits in the well but won't tilt. I am looking at maybe adding a power trim unit that sets the OB about 6 inches back. I am thinking that this will add enough clearence to raise the prop out of the water and since it will be power will take the 100lbs of weight. Just a thought anyway....
