Another question. Does my 8 hp Evinrude "Yachtwin" 1990 which came with my Mac26D of the same year need to be hooked up to the battery to work? Will it start and run without the electrical wire being hooked up? The wiring on my new boat is a mess. (Thanks for the good answers to my last message!)

Sure, you can still start it manualy, but will not have the ability to charge your batteries. Also, if you properly connect your electric start outboard to your battery you will have both electric starting and charging ability. Novelman

Hook it up

I survive by sailing the Gulf from Nov thru Mar. I have just pulled my boat and Summerized it - it's time to head North. I really feel for you folk having to stay up North all Winter. They don't appreciate us down here but we come anyway. A popular bumper sticker down here quotes 'Happiness is a Yankee driving North'.
