Outboard bracket bolts...

I have noticed the that heads on the bolts on my outboard bracket are starting to deteriorate. I need to replace them. My boat is a 1979 Oday 25 with the fiberglass "wedge" for the outboard bracket.

How long are these bolts? I have yet to crawl into the lazurette to inspect from the inside. Anyone with any insight on this...

I replaced mine a while back. Ihave a '76 O'day 25. The shocking thing to me was how THIN the transom is. Mine is maybe the thickness of two sheet of posterboard. Incrediblly thin! So you've got your wedge plus 1/8 for the bracket and 1/8 for the transom wall then whatever backing you have. Mine is 3/4 " marine plywood. Plus washers.

For the next few times I came over the transom after discovering how thin it was I kept expecting the feet of the boarding ladder to poke thru!

I had a chance to dig though my "stuff" and found

the extra bolts I had from changing my motor mount. On my 26 with the factory wedge, the thick side of the wedge used 6" and the thin side used 4". I got the SS carriage bolts from Jamestown Distributors.

I changed out my motor mount (to a 4 stroke mount), bolts and transom block (wood) in July. It wasn't too bad, since the motor mount was on the port side and I could get in there fairly easily. (158 lbs., 5'9")

I bought my bolts at boltdepot.com.
