Yes Sumner you are correct about the bottom of the carb but for day to day or week to week, you still do not want to leave gas up in the jets which is why to run the fuel out so the engine will run the next time and now it is more important due to ethanol. I was a former dealer who taught others about that.

I have a 2-stroke and usually buy ethanol free gas and use
seafoam to every tank and so far very good results and less
problems.

Check the specification plate on your transom. If you over-power the boat (if there is a max HP spec) you will not be able to get insurance. I found out the hard way 150HP/90HP on a power boat.
A 2 stroke will be lighter than a 4 stroke, 4 stroke will be quieter. Keep checking around before you invest and best of luck!
