Well, we closed on our new home today. A 1997 Caliber 40lrc. We will be racing her in an overnight race this Friday and then cruise for about 10 days and then move aboard.

Wow, that's bigger than our first apartment(kitchen's bigger too!)! A boat like that was in my original plans for retirement back when I thought I'd make tons of $$ in my working years:D. Really beautiful - live the dream!

Congratulations. Beautiful. Let me know how you like the sloping side decks - I'll bet they're great when closehauled. Enjoy.

I'm sure you'll share with us what goodies you have on her, many of which we can see in the cockpit.

Thanks Stu, not sure what you mean about sloping side decks. The side decks on this boat are fairly flat. Maybe a very slight incline to promote water runoff.

Just about everything you need to go serious cruisng is included. I need to install a good heater though.

Some of the goodies: Windvane, watermaker, AC(luxury item), gps, radar, AP, AIS, epirb, liferaft, 2 130w solar panels, wind generator, engione attached 5kw generator/inverter and tons of spares.

Aw, shuck, ya hadda do that "tons of space" thing to us, dinnya?:)

I remember Calibers with sloping decks, their idea being the high side was flat when closehauled. Sounds like yours isn't like that. Which is good.

Have fun, I know it'll be really hard to do that...:D

Where does your alternator output go? I just hadda ask...;)

TimR, Space has no mass. ;) How could you have a ton of it? ;) A perfectly lovely boat and you won't have any trouble making it into your home. I am pleased for you both.

very Nice

I would like to see more shots of the stern,I recently added a seat like yours at the helm and you won't need a heater if you come down to Florida

The high temperature in Key West was only 54 degrees when Buzz Hodus was down there last winter. he said the temperature in Bel Air was 55 on the same day. . I would want heat. ;)

I feel guilty for being so envious. There was one on my dock in NC while I was there, gorgeous boat with lines just like mine. :)

But I also have to chuckle a little about your going racing. Reminds me of a friends boat that we race occasionally. He has more weight just in the booze above the waterline than he has in the keel.

I can vouch that she's a sweet boat, and CLEAN!! Did a mini pre-survey with Tim and the PO's were very, very knowledgeable and fastidious. Very well equipped too..

Sorry for the poor quality pic, I took it with my phone..

P.S. Tim, my Garmin order was from Anchor Express just looked it up. Perhaps after the race Wed night we can go to town on the plotter install. It will be a late night but I think we can do it so you're ready for Friday's race.

Nice looking boat !

Hey Tim,
In that interior picture, the light fixture looks something like an Alpenglow. If it is, how do you like it?
Best,
L

L:

It is an AlpenGlow. We had them in our H31 and they made custom ones for our recessed lighting in out HV'36. You can get them with Red LED's for night sailing now too.
