Ruth and I want to thank everyone for the congrats and as of yesterday we are now married. Both of us are very happy. We've been together for almost 3 years now and they have been the best 3 years of each or our lives. Some of that has to do with a sailboat coming into our lives and also the new friends we have as a result.
We appreciate all of the invites and hope that some of them work out. On the last trip because of all of the mods we did to the boat we left over a month late and just wanted to get in the water as we had to take out right before Christmas. Now unfortunately we have to be in Penn. on the 1st of April for Ruth's great-grandson's first birthday. We plan on driving back south on the 2nd to pick the boat back up.
We want to see the 10,000 Island/Glades and then some of the Keys on the next trip before the heat/humidity maybe gets to much. After that we will tow the boat probably up the east coast to Long Island Sound and this might be the last trip to Florida.
If we put back in at All American (Charlotte Harbor) then it is a ways down to Everglade City and on south and with our limited experience and none in the open ocean I worry some about the stretch from Ft. Meyers to south of Naples and don't want to get caught by weather and have to stay at Ft Meyers for some time.
For that reason we are thinking about trailering the boat (it is on the trailer now) on down to Flamingo and putting in there and then going up the coast as far as Everglades City and then going back south to Marathon and either up or down the Keys. We wouldn't have to take back out at Flamingo as I think if we ended up by Miami (South Dade Marina) I might be able to get a ride back to Flamingo to get the Sub/trailer. Or if we went south in the Keys get a ride from there.
One other option and I'd like comments on any of these would be put back in at All American and go south and take out someplace else and get transportation back to the sub/trailer. I think public transportation back to Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda would be no problem, but getting to the storage place would.
Last has anyone motored up from Miami and then taken the ICW across Fl. to Ft. Meyers. How long would that take in days?
Thanks for any help on this and hopefully we will get a chance to meet some of you guys,
Sum and Ruth
