This photo is of our home cruising grounds. Taken last week from Mount Constitution on the east side of Orcas Island, it shows Rosario Strait, Lummi Island, Bellingham Bay and the eleven thousand foot volcano, Mount Baker in the background on the Washington mainland. Why would anyone want to cruise around the world with this at home? Gary Wyngarden S/V Wanderlust h37.5

Snow

in Puget Sound is a once or twice a year event usually "sticking" for a day or two at most. The temperature of the Sound is 46 plus or minus 4 degrees year round. Thus the summers are mild and the winters are mild. The Cascade range that houses Mt. Baker of course gets lots of snow and has major glaciers that persist year round. Up here boating is an every month affair.

Gary and Les, no, no, no...

you've got it all wrong. You're supposed to say crappy weather all the time, no fish, oysters infected with red tide, crabs taste like cardboard and the sun never shines. Repeat after me... Just what we need more people from Long Island Sound and the land of fruits and nuts. :) Terry

Gary and Les: I sure don't recognize these waters

They sure don't look like any place around here in the Pacific NorthWet. I haven't been able to see Mt Baker or Mt Rainier in years, since they have always been under cloud cover. Blue sky? who are you kidding? Did you use Photoshop to paste in the blue sky? ;D I was out this weekend, and it was raining cats and dogs yesterday. Really !!!! I haven't seen rain like that in ages. According to the local TV channel, the precip for yesterday was 0.58". Okay Terry, did I do good? *5
