I Keep my dinghy on a float in the slip next to the sailboat. Works great for when you want the dink and when you don't. However, the otters like to slide in and take up residence. Otters live in their own "mess". Anybody dealt with this before? Thought about a mat with some short nails. Did i say the dink is an inflatable?...

I see a number of boats in our marina place bags of moth balls in their dinks. I haven't seen any otters taking up residence in these. Mind you, they may have just moved to another marina for the winter. Might be worth a try for a relatively simple solution.

I keep my dink in my driveway covered, no otter problems here, but then I live in Burbank, Ca. ;) Any ideas on how to get raccoons out of under my house?

Bald Eagles are natural predators. Can you find a fake one and stick it nearby?

I had problems with Racoons getting into the garbage in the garbage cans. I went to the Dog Groomers and got a bag of dog hair and taped some of the hair around the garbage can lid. No more racoons. I suspect a cloth bag of dog hair may work in the dingy also.

No solution to offer but I know that if there is one animal you do NOT want to mess with, its an otter.

Turn the dinghy upside-down?
It will either fall off the float or put the float inside putting the tubes in the water. Even lashed down.. Turning it upside down would be a PITA..I noticed a boat with some plastic spikes on the swimstep which was clean. I called him and he stated his otter problem is really bad. Different dock. Spikes are called "cat spikes"..He tried mothballs and all the mythological remedies with no luck..
