And how everybody was talking about veterans and welcoming us home and thanking us. One thing I've been taking for granted is that because of my job, I work on the Great Lakes Naval Station, sometimes I hear when a group of guys, and women (their kids really, just like we were) are coming home, and I've always tried to meet their bus. I have this big old American flag I wave and sometimes I wear my boonie hat, sometimes I wear my 18th MP bge vietnam vet baseball cap, and I yell my self horse. I really wish you could see the look on their faces, you would all be proud of them. I haven't figured out why I wanted to tell you guys that, but that’s ok. Can't say I didn't warn you about this being off topic!! Tom s/v GAIA

Grigs

greeting troops

Tom, Thats a GREAT thing to do,need a little more of that going around. There is a whole group of Older ( WW 2 ) Vets and their Wives, Etc. that meet the planes coming into Portland Maine. They have a hot line system 24 hrs. a day so no matter what time the troops arrive for connecting flights, they have a group to meet them, thank them, and even the wives get into the hugging thing. There was a nice article in Down East Mag. on it. THANKS FOR THE EFFORT

Keep It Up

Tom - Thanks for waving the flag. I hope you keep doing it as long as we have troops returning. And don't apologize for your post as we all need to be reminded to be grateful and honor our troops every time we have an opportunity. I still remember the warm feelings I had returning from WWII.

Tom.

back in the 90s my neighbor who was in the army reserve went to Kuwait and on the day of his return I woke up very early and strung a huge "Welcome home Tom" banner that me and the kids made from my tree to his tree across the street What that did was let lot of people in the neighborhood know that Tom was fighting for our country and a lot of people who didn't even know him waited for his arrival and welcomed him home, he always tells me that he was so touched by that sign and the warm welcome. And its a good OT

OUTSTANDING!!

It doesn't matter a fig whether we agree with the reason for our kids being placed in harm's way, they are there and deserve all our support. IMHO
