we ended up 4th in class, :( by a little over 5 min, corrected... :doh:


but if anyone in interested here is a tracking replay. (SPOT tracker)
I was on Vendaval -(in grey), one of the smaller boats in the fleet.
we lost it near marathon, and the final few hours in the key west harbor...

Weather was crazy, everything from 12knts and sunny, to no wind, then to 40knts and rain in the dark and temps in the 60's.

Oh, yeah. Ajax, and Carysfort lighthouse were both UN-lit.

No lights in the lighthouse. nothing in the skippers meeting or NOR...

the other thing was we lost all house 12v battery's about midnight Wed.... So all of Thursday was lights out... till we got to key West Thurs around 11pm.

About dark Thursday, at American shoals we got hit with a front and 40knts...rain and temp dropped 15 degrees into the 60's. from there on we were double reefed and furled headsail.


One of the crew had a garmin colorado 400c. and it saved the day, compact and fast, with built in charts... highly recommended!!

it growled when they eased the sheets... all CF. sick.
