I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
Hello all. I am just starting to get back into the swing of things after a horrible year last year. I had posted a few times when some of the problems had hit me but I was away for quite some time dealing with things.

Last year my wife decided that she wanted to be my ex-wife. That whole experience sucked but I came out okay, just took some time. At least I got to boat out of the divorce (that is what really counts). She got the house and most everything else but that is okay.

After dealing with all of that I ended up leaving my job because of issues there. I loath office politics and that is part of my decision. I also wanted to get out of the place that I was living because I had no ties to that area now that my ex lives there. I left the job and moved home, closer to the boat.

While all the other things were going on I was fighting with my health. I ended up with kidney stones, high bloodpressure, and other things like that. Now that all of that stuff is behind me I have gotten back in shape, including loosing 40 pounds and working out regularly.

The only unfortunate thing that is left is that I am job hunting. This market is incredibly slow and I really don't want to move far from where I am keeping my boat. I know that something will turn up but it may take some time.

In the end I am lucky because I am able to start a new chapter in my life. The most important thing in life is health and I have that back now. I am now closer to my boat also.

I will hopefully be back on here more now that this is over. Just wanted to say hello again and explain where I have been.

Well I for one am glad you are back and healthy. That was certainly a tough year. Not sure how old you are but at 66 I have been there and learned one very important lesson. Nothing counts so much as friends. So here we are although I liked you better when you sailed a Hunter. Just kidding, Catalinas are OK. :)

So where is this place that is closer to your boat? Still on the Chesapeake I guess.

Welcome back, B.Ob. Man, that sounds like a tough year but I do believe it's true that whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

I hope to see you here more often -- just think of it as networking. :)

I am still on the middle Potomac River and still cruising around the Chesapeake Bay. Looking forward to warmer weather. If this had happened in the beginning of the summer I would would be out cruising now.

Glad that I haven't been forgotten.

One more thing. Now that I am single and a lot more active in some things I have been setting up a loose knit group of sailors around the Potomac River. Anyone who is in the area please contact me if you wish to become a part of this.

Last year we had boats from Dahlgren, Cobb Island, and Colonial Beach meet up on Canoe Neck Creek for a raft-up. It was awesome.

Those are videos of the raft up.

This is a link for the yahoo group that I have began to form. It isn't active yet but I imagine that as soon as the weather warms up it will start to get more active.

bad year

Greetings Bad O.

I too have had a bad start to this year. We buried my brother (52, one year older than me), two weeks later we buried two cousins, and then the next day best four legged friend died and we had to bury him. I prayed to make it out of January. My salvation was prayer, wife, and boat. I am more at peace on the water in my boat.

I hope your year gets better. Remember, when you feel you are down you can only go up!

Jim...Did you sign up for the yahoo group I set up. We are trying to use that board to put up announcements and schedule events. It is slow now because of the time of year but I imagine that it will pick up.

Broke Sailor...Try to get signed up for the board as well. The more the better

How is the sailing on the lower Potomac? We have a cottage just a bit down river. Below Coles Point almost directly across from Piney Point. Although my wife and I only get to the place a couple of times each year our daughter makes good use of it weekends year round. Seems that most of the river traffic is power driven fishing lures.

Sure looks as if sailing could be good the "Rivah" certainly is wide enough.

I am just bumping this back up there. I also wanted eveyone in the area to know that there is a copy of the email listing on the yahoogroups site. If you are interested on getting onto the listing please email me or go on the site and mail me. I will add you to it ASAP. I believe that we are also going to be joining up with the Middle Potomac Sailing Association as the subject was discussed this evening.

Hope to hear from some of you guys. The weather is going to turn soon and the season will be here before you know it!
