Sure was happy this was not my boat. Two of the Ospreys we have in our marina were hanging out on two of the sailboats on the river side of the marina. I guess if they have to go, you can use a shovel to clean it off. I think they were trying to get some peace and quiet from their chicks who were making a racket just across the channel from them.

There was a pair building a nest on a bimini in Rock Hall MD anchorage a few years ago. I watched a pair playing jumprope with the fishlines and ribbons one boater had used to keep them away.

My mast head antennas etc keep them off the top so the young ones used my winches till a couple of simple rubber snakes ended that, go figure.

So, you buy a nice boat and something comes by to crap all over it?

That's about par for the course -- except this is a DOUBLE EAGLE -- making it three under par!

Doves are worse. They made their nests under the dodger in the warm sun. They like to pluck out feathers and mix it with poo or vomit. Rubber snakes keep them away but you need to move the snakes every few days. CD's swinging in the wind like mirrors had them sitting on the pedestal admiring their reflection. They were so thankful they would leave a pile of presents.

I still get feathers once in a while when I pull a sheet.

For a long, long time there was an Osprey aerie atop the mast of an old trawler nearby. Many seasons we enjoyed watching the life cycle of these beautiful predators through our binoculars from the cockpit. In California, and I'm sure in most other parts of the country... the nests of tbese birds is protected. The boat never left the slip during the past ten years, until recently, when he was able to get a permit to move or destroy the nest. It was quite a revelation to come down to the marina to see that our eagle friend's home had been replaced by an orange traffic cone! ....sigh...

The ospreys were having sex on my bimini, the nest would have been next until I put netting 6" above it.
