I am preparing a permanent posting on cause, treatment etc of "osmotic" blisters for the gelcoat and plastics forum I have plenty of input fromthe people who sell "fixit" products, but I want real life examles from people who have done repairs to blisters and then seen if the result have held up on the next haul out. Since most of you seem to hang out down here I thought I would ask down here! Thanks Jim Willis

Jim, I know you are looking desperately for war stories. In my area , you get blisters, you dry out, you repair and barrier coat. Not to have problems again. Hope this is what your looking for... r.w.landau

Jim, There is one story I know of. I was going to include alot of background but the Owner of this boat might not think it approprate. The boat had blisters bad enough that simple patching would not do. It had a $15000.00 gel coat strip. r.w.landau

blister story

Last year I sold a 1986 Catalina 36.. It had a barrier coat and still developed blisters. I adjusted the price down $4000 dollars. (That was the bid by the yard for the repair). It seems wrong that consumers have to eat these blister jobs since it is a result from the manufacturing process..
