Would anyone take pity on me (a former J24 sailor, used to sailing without amenities) and tell me in "Zippy the Chimp" language how to work the Origo Alchohol Electric stove that is on our new-to-us 1981 Hunter 37 Cutter? I found the Origo Operations Safety Manual on the web, but I just don't understand it, being totally unfamiliar with such luxuries as a marine stove. I don't know if you leave the electric burners in place when running the alchohol or exactly how to turn on the electric stove when hooked up to shore power? I may never even use the Alchohol but I might give the electric a try. Hate to admit I'm a bit intimidated by this thing.

Nothing to remove.

I have the alcohol-only Origo two-burner on my 1979 H37C. It replaced the Kenyon pressurized kerosene range/oven. The alcohol stove(non-pressurized) is simple to use and works great. I suppose if I were going to have an oven for baking I might consider propane. There is nothing to remove on your stove. When using electric the slides covering the alcohol should be off(closed). Then it works just like an electric range at home. Do not fill the canisters with alcohol around any hot electric burners. Open a canister and light, adjust the flame. Mine will boil a half full teapot in about five minutes. That's for coffee in the French Press.
