does anyone know what the original sheeting for a '71 Mac Venture 24. Or even an improvement on it (in detail or pic please) I have bought one that is at basket case level, so starting over is no problem. What I have in boxes doesn't allow the boom to swing out for a run. I have : port side a speed cleat and 1 permenent eyelet(dont know name) no pulley. : boom has double pulley side by side hanging from a tang : starboard has single pulley there are also eyelets that is lined with plastic or ceramic about a foot towards the bow between two cleats that I have no Idea. (fairleads maybe) Previous owner is no help. thanks clint

rigging

Clint, If the 24' is rigged like my 25' you are almost there. The main sheet secures to an eyelet on the port side of the transom. There should be a block mounted on a swivel on the port gunwale near the stern. This should have a speed cleat on a swivel as well (all one unit). Your single block on the starboard gunwale and double block on the boom are correct. The sheet should run from the portside eyelet through the double block on the boom, down through the single block on the starboard side, back through the double block, then through the swivelling block and speed cleat on the port side. It sounds more complicated than it is. I'm still prepping my boat for the launch in about a week (I hope). If you need a photo I can send one, just post an address. -John

Seems to work

Thanks. That seems to have it. Although it looks like the boom may not swing wide enough with the sheets I have to do a RUN, but I'm not sure how much the sail will fill past that.Don't want it laying too much on the shrouds, right? I would like to see pics of your boat. clint_hansen@comcast.net
