Does anyone know where I can find, online, a copy of the original Hunter brochure for the Vision 32? Are there any personal Vision-32 specific websites? Thanks!

Also looking for a V-32 manual

Am also looking for a manual for a Vision 32. Some time ago, Noel Black, who has moved to Florida had proposed to send one. I have been unable to track him down-has anyone seen him. No there is no Vision websites, I wish there was one. There are however quite a few owners listed on this site. Best of luck with your boat, I love mine. Cheers, J. Hrab

Vision 32 Brochure & Manual

I have a 1989 Vision 32 which I have owned since 1990. I've somehow picked up three different brochures over the years, and also have the original manual that came with the boat. I just got back from a 4 day trip, so give me a few days to fire up the scanner, and I'll post them here for your use.

If Mike can't find it

I think I can find one that I just happened to have from long ago. If one of you guys will send me you snail mail address I'll send it to you free of charge-as long as you scan it for the others!

Andy & Mike-You guys are GREAT!

I'm happy to scan anything for the group, but if Andy has the will & the way, it's easier to send electrons than paper! Let us know how it goes! Tom

Call Hunter

If all else fails, Hunter will send you a scanned version as well. It's something like 20 bucks, but it's available.

Manual Quality Could Be Better

I had the Vision 32 manual out last night and it came back to me why I don't use it very often. Its' not very complete, and many of the pages are for Hunters in general, and not specific to the Vision 32. I visited the factory a few weeks ago and was told they now have a full time employee doing manuals, and that they have improved tremendously. Anyway, my manual is from 1989, and if anyone has a more recent one it might be better. With that said, I have spent a lot of time (in the early years of ownership) filling in the manual with additional fact sheets on the various systems on the boat, either original or added. I have drawings from Isomat showing original placement of fittings on the mast and boom (of mostly limited use, but interesting just the same). All in all, its quite a few pages. I'm willing to try scanning them and making them available, but it may be longer than I thought before I get to it. However, if whoever was interested would send my their address, I think it would be easier for me to copy the pages and send them by mail. Let me know. As for the brochures, I located two of the three brochures last night. One is an early 89' brochure, and the other is a late 90' (or even later) brochure. You can sort of tell because Hunter makes changes during the model year, and is always improving things. My 89' model has frame and panel style cabinet doors, while the brochure shows slab style cabinet doors. There are other minor changes as well. The later brochure shows an electric wench for the main halyard, but I have talked with a 90' Vision 32 owner in California that does not have the electric wench. I will try to scan these first and put them in the Project Archives, since they allow pictures there. However, if anyone sends me their e-mail address, I'll send them straight to them. By and by, I also have a brochure for the Vision 36, as well as a sailing report reprinted from Sailing Magazine, Sept. 1993. I guess I just collect things. Finally, is anyone interested in starting a Forum just for Vision owners? I think thats allowed here. I have a lot of things I've done that I think enhances the value of the boat, and I'm always looking for other ideas. While I like talking to individual owners, some ideas (like changing the original mainsheet from the 3-1 to a 6-1 purchase, a tremendous improvement) takes enough time to explain that it would be better to share it once for all to see. There would then be an opportunity to get feedback, as there is more than one way to do anything. Let me know your thoughts.

Hi Mike- Check your Email...

My interest in the manual is sort of post-newbie. From past experience on other boats, I believe I know how to sail & rig the boat, I can find the seacocks, Etc. BTW-We don't have the boat yet, but we're getting closer every day! But: Keel bolts? Never owned a boat with them. An electrical system with more than three switches? Ditto. Etc. So, I'm hoping the manual has this sort of info, and anything else Mike has collected I'd LOVE to see! As for a separate V-32 & V-36 forum, I think it would be great. I've looked in vain for any kind of personal website with info on the Visions, so a home here would be great! Tom

A very classy page for a Pearson 10M

Dan's page for his Pearson 10M (link below) is at the top of my list for a boat-orientied owner's page. Many folks have great voyage or trip pages, but Dan's is focussed on the Pearson 10M, a great boat from the late 70's. he had a Pearson 26 before, and that page is fantastic as well! There is also a Gemini Catamaran owner's page out there (the link escapes me at the moment) that has a tremendous amount of upgrade info for these very popular cats. These kinds of pages are visions of what I would like to see for our boats....

V-32 & V-36 fORUM

A Forum dedicated to Vision's would be great, I have exchanged with several owners and it has been great. How can we go about it, any ideas, or does anyone have any ideas ? I am looking forward to meet other owners as I am the only one in my area (Lake Champlain, N.Y.) and never met another owner. I am getting tired of explaining to others that all those wires were optional equipment that I refused to pay for, maybe next year. Let us know, J. Hrab

E-mail Discussion List?

Thanks for the offer,Phil. How would an e-mail discussion list work? Can you give us an example we could look at to see if it would fit the bill? Could we break it down into different sections to keep track of different discussions? Could we post project pictures on it? Or is it more limited than that? I'm not sure if it would have enough depth to cover some of the things I would like to see and do with this type of forum. I've looked at the Pearson 10M web site, and that would be a great way to keep all of the information and ideas about the Vision thats being gathered from different owners in one place for others to access. Does anyone want to host a web site like that? I seems like a lot of work to keep up, and that would take a passionate sailor AND computer person. I've done a lot of upgrades to my boat and have shared some of them with others on this website. Invariably, though, the details come out in personal e-mail with different people. The next guy that asks the same question, everything starts over. It'd be neat to be able to discuss a project in detail, get other opinions (there's always more than one way to skin a cat), and post projects, photos, ideas, etc all in one area. As an example, I know there has been a lot of discussion about props and boat speed umder power. I've been there, done that, learned some interesting things that most people probably don't know, and can offer suggestions on how to fix related problems. But I get into this web site for awhile (like now), and then get too busy with life again to spend much time on the computer. I would like to be able to offer suggestions once, thats easily accessable to others, and come back at some indeterminate time in the future and pick up on whats been happening, and whats new. Maybe I haven't been using this website properly, but is doesn't seem to offer that kind of detailed approach. Maybe I'm pipedreaming. Whats everyones thoughts?

An Email list would be great!

Phil- I think an Email list would be great! I'd like to see it for both V-32 & V-36 owners. Let's give it a try. Any chance of searchable archives being available through your site?

We've got a pic up in the project/picture forum!

Thanks to Mike, we've got 1 page of probably an original 1988 (1989?) Hunter Brochure up in the projects/ pictures forum. The original is a glorious 1 meg scan at 300 dpi, which I had to reduce to 75K to get in under the 80K limit. You can even read the purple prose in the 1 meg version; "Comfort, convience, fun and affordable best describes our newest vision-the Vision 32." More fun to follow.

Is the manual question resolved?

Have you all gotten significant responses about the manual for the Vision 32? I have a '91' Vision and the complete manual and also the brochure. The manual isn't bad, has most of the necessary specifications. The thought about a specific Vision forum is GREAT. If we can't do it at here, perhaps somewhere else. The Vision was named correctly as the design is radical, get's a lot of looks and questions, and is a great surprise to the "conventional" sailboat crowd. I think that anyone who has ever owned one understands the feelings that this boat brings out. We should have a spot for all of us to share our experiences. You can miss things by not looking all the way down the current mid-size boat forum. A place dedicated to the Vision owners would be benefical.
