Original blue stripe, paint or gelcoat

My anchor fell of of the bow holder and scratched the bottom blue stripe. I was going to tint some gelcoat but it looks like it may be paint.

It's the original blue stripe. Is it paint or gelcoat?

not sure if mine is original or not but it is definitely paint

The manual for my 28 (1979) takes great pride in explaining that the original stripes and hull color are factory gelcoat and will not fade over time.

True enough, after I removed some oxidation, I have a pretty sharp looking hull.
