Not sure why you would venture out 40-60 miles to hit the gulfstream. I have made the trip on a seadoo but not my sailboat. No major obstacles or shallow areas of interest. The interesting part would be going through oregon inlet. The tide can flow 5-6 knots at times laying the nuns on their side. I have fished out of Oregon inlet and found that the shoaling can change with little warning. I have gone from 20 feet to 3 feet and still be in the main channel. Bridge height should be fine, but take a careful, look at the tide tables, and ask the locals about current shoaling. Oh yeah, and have fun.
