One day I shall visit South Carolina.
I've been to Washington going to and coming from Alaska. On the way back we visited Point Defiance in Tacoma. Fantastic place to visit. We also got to watch a friend play AA baseball that night in Tacoma. Just so happened he was on the visiting team who were playing the Raniers. We had a great view of the mountain from the stadium. Wonderful trip.

Jeep... It is not the turning that is a problem, it is the sustained green experience.
Gosh yea I agree with that. Since I mainly daysail, I've now got a rule; once somebody turns green we head right back in. It's just not much fun to be out with somebody heaving over the leeward rail. We may drop off the greenie and head back out though.

I also don't invite guests for a trip to islands if they get green at all. It's not fun for anybody. (Although my eldest son is 1 puke and good. So he's cool)

I think the only time I ever yell on the boat is when I bellow "Puke to leeward!" in my best pirate voice. I should get a bumper sticker made up - that'd be pretty dang funny. Well, there was that one time the rudder cable broke within 100 yards of the breakwater, I may have yelled then..... But that's a different story.

THANKS TO ALL. just thought some might like an update. Our kayak trip from St. Ignace to Mackinac island is 2 weeks past now. Our trip went FANTASTICALLY WELL. we had our triangular flags mounted on light polls and all the std gear. NO issues with any other boats. did have a police boat swing around us to check us out at a safe distance. gave him the thumbs up, he gave us the thumbs up and he left. NOT a recommended trip for every one. but if you have the experience and desire, it was an amazing experience.

Very interesting, looks like fun, but after all the previous posts was disappointed not to see any pole mounted flags.

Cool vid... but it will take a VERY dedicated person to watch it for 90+ seconds before you even push off shore.

If I kayaked I'd carry a Safety Blaster for sound making. Light, waterproof, and no batteries or gas to replace. We have one on BlueJ, and it is ridiculously (120 db SPL) loud.

I have one....but local CG says its not approved because it doesn't say "USCG approved" on the horn. I carry the air horn though. The kayaks up here are ridiculous......more than one or two rescues a day.

Kevin - even though your trip is over, here is an idea for the next one. What about having a radar reflector on the flag pole mounted a bit above head height?
Kayaks can be really hard to spot if there is some wave action or one is on a boat going into the sun, and especially if looking through an unclean windshield. Most boaters are going to be looking for other boats and a low-lying kayak makes for a small target. Er, .... I didn't mean it that way, I meant hard to spot.
