Mine is light grey too. But the catalina factory grey looks really light colored. I would be happy with that again. But may be easier to paint the whole deck one color and add non skid to the parts that need it.

Mike H., at my marina there is a Freedom F39 that is in impeccable condition. The running rigging looks brand new, all of the brightwork is in top notch condition, and top sides look like they just came out of a show room. I thought for sure it was yours looking at your picture, but then I noticed your home port. Hard to believe there are 2 perfect specimens in the world!

There; does that make you feel better?

I'm enjoying this thread and learning a lot. One thing I haven't seen, and maybe I need to re-read, but how much does this cost? are we talking hundreds, several hundreds, Thousands, bazillions? and how many man hours/vessel size have you guys experienced ?

Dave-With sand paper, the coatings and the beer I would think it will come to around $500. Man Hours??? Twice as much as you think, isn't that the way it always is?

Also I am going to start disassembling the life lines bow pulpit and stern rail. I am going to powder coat all of it. I am sick of looking at rust! This will be done before I paint the deck. I have also started potting the holes in the deck. I got 20 done, only 200 more.lol I will post the powder used and the process for any who are thiking of it. I know som one asked about it not too long ago, they got me thinking.

Chuck-how are you associted with good old boat?

What was the problem with Durabac???
SD, The product is terrible to keep clean, nothing gets the dirt off, it faded to grey in splotches all over and after the manufacturer replaced it once then made me buy it the third time it did the same thing in less than 6 months. It looked horrible and the manufacturer had all kinds of excuses. After the third time we covered it with Tuffcoat, which is in our Good Old Boat article and the difference was night and day. Two other folks had the exact same results with Durabac that we are aware of first hand. Chuck

Mike-there is an ICI paint store on my street. I did talk to them when I was painting the bottom on my boat. I asked them about bottom paint and they were trying to sell me a coating like we are talking about. I forgot about that because they didn't have what I was looking for at the time.
Chuck-next time I am reading magazines at barnes and nobles I will look for your name in the articles.
