Hello everyone,

I am looking at this over the weekend, seems like "all the money" especially without a trailer, not that I want a trailer. Would prefer to show up and sail without the issues of launching, hauling, etc...

It's an 1985, the current owner has had it for 1 year. Looks very clean and I like the red interior.

Any comments on "fair current" market value and issues with these boats. If it shows well I would spend the money on a survey if we can agree on a suitable price.

While it certainly depends greatly on your area and what is available...that price is very solidly on the high side for a C25. Personally, I wouldn't pay anywhere near that much for a C25....unless it was an '89+ wing keel with a trailer, new motor, new sails/rigging and decent electronics. Should go without saying, but everything should function perfectly. Then we'd be at the $8k price.

It looks nice, clean and well equipped. I suggest you take a few days and research every C25 for sale you can find. Use all the popular selling sites. Try to get a feel for current market prices, what is available and condition.

Then make your own, informed decision.

Sounds a little high with no trailer, especially coming off the season. This is the time to start bargain hunting.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.

Funny most sailboat owners I have spoke with claim the season is just starting here in Arizona since the powerboaters and weekend party'ers will be leaving the lake in another 60 days. I myself prefer the warmer weather and water and would probably use it much less in November through April.....go figure, to each their own, i guess...

I'm thinking a $6,000 offer with cash in hand, since the lack of trailer would effect my ability to sell it in the future. This of course, is if the boat is in exceptional condition as advertised. I'm sure with the amount of large lakes in Arizona, the lack of trailer would hinder most buyers who want to see more than 1 lake.

i'm looking for a weekend escape, to camp, write, etc....

You also incure $200 in monthly expenses for the forseable future in slip fees with a boat without a trailer....I might start at $5k and see what counter is offered. He's going to spend 1/2 that in the next 12 months on the slip...

I hate to insult ones baby, though......

I sold my C25 for $4500 three years ago to finance my Catalina 30 renovation, a price I feel was low for what came with the boat; newer cushions, all new lights inside and out, new jib and furler, etc. I even sold it with a trailer. Probably could have gotten more like $5500, but I didn't want to take a long time to sell her, either.

$8000 seems kind of high to me, especially this time of year. Your idea of countering with $5000 and having to pay slip fees might be a good place to start. But, like others have said, look around and compare.

Agreed, 6k is a reasonable price (8 is high), however, the boat looks pretty good. By contrast I paid $6k for my capri couple months ago (which granted is older - 1982), with a pristine interior (all new cushions), completely redone teak, brand new trailer, brand new motor.

My two cents.....never ever, ever, ever buy a trailerable sailboat without a trailer.....you will really limit your market when it comes time to sell.

I simply wouldn't pay anywhere near "full price" when plenty of similar boats can be had with a trailer for 6-8k.

I bought an 85' O'day 26 without a trailer at a highly discounted price and have enough cash left over to buy a couple of trailers when and if I need one.

That sail cover is not indicative of "like new" sails IMO. At 4 years old mine are still stiff and don't flake well under the cover.
