Opening Ports on an O'Day 23?

Has anyone replaced their fixed forward ports with opening ones?

Would you do it again? What should I look out for?

Whose did you choose and why? How hard was it to do? Did you have to modify the opening any?

It was suggested I may want to also remove the long rear windows and shorten them so an opening window could also be used there. This sounds like a LOT of work and cosmetically hard to match it into the existing gelcoat. What do you think?

I did a search of the forum as I want to add opening ports on my 1977 25 and I found your post. I also found some threads where people have used Beckson, link to them here. There some that also said to contact Rudy at D & R Marine for information. I would be very interested to know if you found anything yet. I believe the 23 & 25 are similar in hardware.

I changed out the fixed forward ports (mine were pretty beat up and ugly) on my Morgan with Beckson Rain Drain ports. Had to enlarge the holes somewhat and cut slots for the drains but this wasn't bad using a jig saw, a round and a half round rasp.
I used the trim ring as a template and taped plastic inside to catch the FG dust and pieces. Below are pics I took of before, during and after.
I like the ventilation and think they look a lot better than what I had.
