Open a holding tank

Has anyone ever opened a holding tank? There is an access port easily accessed under the deck plate aft of the sink so that is not an issue. What I am scared of is that when I twist on that access port (threaded... turn it CCW to open I assume) something is going to break, and then I've got to replace the entire thing... also, is there some kind of sealant that I should use when putting it back together?

You are correct CCW. If it's the plastic port it has O-Rings. New ones are available. I'm 100% sure I used Silicone sealer on my new tank and ports. If you are concerned about it breaking... Pick up some (REAL) Duct Tape from a Heating and Cooling Contractor or Supply House and tape it up. (I am a Contractor, most of the stuff labeled "Duct Tape" sold at the Big Box stores is Crap.)

Noooo... I won't Ask Why you need to open the tank.
