I found it is a good idea to see where the tender is located before taking a shower. It sure would have saved some bailing.

During our two month cruise this season I always...

showered on board. My navy type shower normally consumes about five gallons of water.

Showers

We have two water tanks a 25 gal and a 30 gal. Water isn't an issue for us because we usually not more than 4 hours away from a fresh water supply. When one tank goes dry we refill it when we get back to our marina. So we take longer showers than we really should. I would estimate (from the dewatering of the tender) that we use about 4 gals per shower. Bigest problem is hot water. We have a 6 gal hot water heater and if my wife gets her shower first mine shower is a little cool. Maybe she plans it that way.

I don't shower! I sponge bathe. One quart of water

will wash me from head to foot with a wet rag and a bit of soap. It isn't like we are playing rugby in a muddy field.

I'm surprised at 3 - 4 gallon showers.

We jump in the water, soap up, jump back in the water to rinse off, then rinse with 1/2 to 3/4 gallon fresh water.

Jumping into the 49 degree PNW waters for bathing...

purposes is one that I, and especially the admiral, prefer to avoid. Fresh water is in plentiful supply around here, so no worries.
