Rich...

You might have better luck posting in the DESTINATIONS forum. Don't konw how many people will see your post here. Maybe a mod can move your request over there.

Did it in 67 days.

Had a couple of mistakes and skipped one of the questions but beat the record. Entrtaining game.

Rich....

... the answer to your question is really locally weather dependent -- and how much pain and suffering you want to endure. Seriously, unless you have some important schedule to meet, I wouldn't leave Cape Cod going south until at least mid-April and then the weather is still iffy. Early May would be my choice.

A bug

There was a bug in it. On my last leg it had me heading into a tropical storm that was moving west. I said I wanted to sail around to the east of it. A tropical storm in the Caribbean will have a counter clockwise windflow into the center, which means if I am on the east side and going north, I will be running with the wind. It said I would be heading into the wind and going very slow. WRONG! My decision was the fastest decision and fairly safe.

I thought east was better

Franklin, The right hand (east) side of a hurricane is the danger side. Yes, the wind will be favorable, but a bit strong. A tropical storm in the Carribean, with the warmer water, can easily develop into a hurrcane. We are so used to reading about these around the world guys looking for storms, in this game we tend to look for them too, but they were playing it safe.

East side is stronger

but if you go on the edges then your cool because the storm is heading west. No storm in history has gone east that far south...they all go west or northwest or north east or north and the game did say it was heading west. They also go faster then most sailboats so it will move out of the way if you stick to the far east edge. Then again, if this is one of those 70' racing boats then yeah...the boat will go faster then the storm and you have to account for that. So I still say go around on the east side. Game is WRONG!
