One hand behind my back

Have you ever been out in the dingy and need to balance the load? Sitting at the seat or on the tube forward enough to keep the bow down makes steering difficult. In my case its one hand behind my back.
Saw an extension on the outboard last summer as the operator zipped by standing up. I couldn't see if it was PVC or thank him for the idea. I made mine two foot out of 1 1/2 so I could tuck it under my arm when I'm sitting on the seat. No more arm cramps. I might even flare the end for a smoother fit.

i removed my seat, sat on pontoon and loaded bow of dink to keep it down and plane easier. standing also works. but ye dont NEED the seat...just gets in the way.

It hides the battery and gas can. I also have extra floatation, repair kit, and fire extinguisher under the other seat. I haven't put the anchor on it yet either. Thanks Zeehag, I'll make the sun come up a minute earlier tomorrow just for you.

Saw some warning about not sitting plastic gas cans on top of plastic pick-up bed liners; something about friction and static electricty which could spark gas fumes. Perhaps it was only meant while filling the tank up at a gas station. Having a battery next to it could not make things better; could it? Nice idea about the PCV tiller.

I have one of those PVC tubes. Works great and while the guy with the larger boat in the first photo does that, you're sitting pretty in the dinghy.

On a related note, my wife can't reach the forward/reverse lever. Anybody made anything to extend that? I'm thinking about PVC tubing with an elbow over the lever.

You're right about filling the plastic tanks, always have them on the ground. I do carry fuel tanks in the back of my PU, well ventilated to keep the vapors (LEL) as low as possible. The outboard is electric start so a battery and fuel tank are on board, well ventilated.
