One Compressor, Two evaporators

Good Morning, I've got a question for Mr. Williams, or any other member with experience installing Adler Barbour systems. On my Endeavor 37, I have a Norcold refrigerator which performs extrememly poorly. I would like to remove it, build an icebox to fit the void, install a AB compressor (water cooled) underneath the icebox, and run lines to an evaporator in the newly constructed icebox, and another in the boat's original icebox. So ... two boxes, one refrigerator, one freezer. I'm a little fuzzy on how I'm going to branch the line and control the flow of refrigerant to establish two different temperature ranges in each box. Can this be done with the Supercold machine? What other parts will I need? Some kind of thermostat actuated valve? Thank you for your assistance. Respectfully, Mark R. Mineo

sorry for the delay in responding

Your application would require two SuperColds. One evaporator to one condensing unit.

OK ... but

Gary, Could I get a little more info from you? I've seen this done with other compressors, and in theory, it should only increase the duty cycle, not a big deal if insulation and cooling is up to it. I don't have room for two compressors and their accompanying circulation systems. What is it about the Super cold that makes it impossible? The computer board? Should I be looking at a cold machine, or some other unit to build the kind of system that I want? I'm looking for water cooled, DC, one compressor to two evaporators ... and I'm placing my order soon! Thanks for sharing your wisdom. R/ MRM

SuperCold

Mark, What you want to do is possible, but not with our machines. It would be possible to run 2 evaporators in series, but balancing the charge would be difficult. To achieve 2 different temps would require a smaller evap in the fridge and a larger evap in the freezer, both runnig at the same time. Sizing the evaps would also be difficult. Please don't try it. Otherwise, you would need valves and a receiver which we do not use on our units. Check out some other companies, you'll find what you're looking for, but they will be larger than the SuperCold and much more expensive.

try grunert

The 450 and 460 have two boxes and one compressor

Thanks for the information Gary

I'll keep shopping, and if the price is too high, maybe I'll have to adjust my ambition ...
